Unity Candle

So one of my customers (and friend), called me up and said that her daughter was trying to put their invitation onto their unity candle and that they couldn't get it to stay on. She asked if I had any thoughts on how to do it. So we discussed doing it like we had done stamping on candles so I told her I would give it a try. So what I did was copy the invitation onto tissue paper. Let me tell you that was a treat all on it's own. If you ever try to print onto tissue paper make sure you have all the sides of the tissue paper taped down WELL to a piece of copy paper. After 4 or 5 tries I finally did get it to print out onto the tissue paper and then I have to tell you when I was heat setting it onto the candle that was the most nerve wrecking 3 minutes I've had in a very long time. When your stamping on candle it's just for fun and if you mess up you can always start over, but with the unity candle this was the only candle that I had. But I have to say it came out perfectly, I was even impressed at how good it looked when I was done. I sighed a big sigh of relief. Then I just used the ribbon and wrapped it around the candle and tied it in a knot both on the top and bottom of the candle. If I had my pretties kit I would have added some pearls to it as well, but it was still on Mr. Brown's truck somewhere. And yes I do have permission from my customer to post the candle on my blog.

The only thing she did ask was that I wait until after the wedding to post the pictures so that they didn't have uninvited guests at the wedding.

Have a great day and happy stampin!

World Card Making Day - Wanted

So here is another card for World Card Making Day on October 6th. I used the Wanted stamp set as well as the coordinating Outlaw designer paper. Stampin Up did a great job this catalog season, with making coordinating products, which makes it just that much easier and fun to put cards together. I love the paisley stamp in this set and I used really rust ink on really rust card stock to get that great tone-on-tone affect. I also used the circle scallop punch on this card and I tell you there are so many stamps in the catalog that fit perfectly in that punch. The stars on the sage shadow stripe are also stamped in sage shadow ink to keep that tone-on-tone thing going. I like this card because you could really use it for any occasion for male or female.
Last chance registration for World Card Making Day - All occasion class is October 1st.

Supplies: Wanted stamp set, creamy caramel, really rust, sage shadow classic inks, sage shadow, very vanilla, really rust, close to cocoa card stock, outlaw designer paper, circle scallop punch.

Happy stampin and have a great day!

World Card Making Day - Sunflower

Today my post is one of the cards for World Card Making Day. October 6th I will be holding a all occasion card class from 9:00-11:00am we will be making 5 cards and this just happens to be one of the cards. I really like the stamp set, Give Thanks and this sunflower is part of that set. I stamped it in chocolate chip ink and then used my blender pens and ink from the covers of my ink pads to color in the sunflower. I also used the paisley background stamp and inked it up in Summer Sun ink and then stamped it on very vanilla cardstock. On the Kraft cardstock I took just the flower part of the stamp and inked it up in creamy caramel and just randomly stamped it all over. I took a very thin piece of very vanilla cardstock and layered it between the paisley background stamped cardstock and the kraft cardstock just to give the card a little more interest. Of course I finished off the card by using the ticket corner punch on the old olive layer and the confetti cream layer. Well that's it for today. If you are planning on coming to World Card Making Day on October 6th, please be sure to register by October 1st.

Supplies: Give Thanks stamp set, paisley background stamp, very vanilla, kraft, old olive and confetti cream cardstock, blender pens, yo-yo yellow, summer sun, more mustard, old olive, creamy caramel, close to cocoa classic ink pads, ticket corner punch.
Have a great day and happy stampin!

Snow and Faux icicles

So here is another card for tonight's Christmas Card Class. It uses the new SNOW jumbo wheel from the holiday mini collection as well as 2 of the new in-line colors for this year. How about those cute icicles on the top of the snow layer. The icicles where featured at Stampin Up's convention this year. They are pretty easy to do and I might just have to do a tutorial on them soon. So check back if your interested in seeing how easy they really are to make. In real life they shimmer very nicely. I think that they add a nice dimension to the card. This is one of my absolute favorite layouts for cards, it's one that I fall back on time and time again, one because it's super simple to do plus I love the way it looks, nice and crisp and clean.
Supplies: Snow jumbo wheel,Tags on board stamp set, Whisper white, soft sky and blue bayou cardstock, bashful blue jumbo ink cartridge, blue bayou classic ink, soft sky and blue bayou double stitched grosgrain ribbon.

Baroque - Christmas

So as you all know, I absolutely love this stamp set, Baroque Motifs that is. I knew that it would make a really pretty Christmas Card even though it's not a Christmas set (just shows how versatile the set really is). The small flowers kind of remind me of poinsettias so I thought that I would try them in purely pomegranate, sure they would have looked great in real red or bravo burgundy but I wanted to give them just a touch of something different. The swirl stamp was stamped in always artichoke, it was hard to pick a green color because there are so many that look nice with the pomegranate, I was debating between wild wasabi, old olive, mellow moss or the artichoke. Well artichoke won out. I used our new gold cord (it's stretchy which makes it really nice for Christmas presents or tags as well as many other things). I just tied it in a simple bow. I stamped the words Merry Christmas in Gold ink and then I also ran the gold ink around the edges of all the layers of cardstock, it makes it look like there is more layers of cardstock then there really is. Anyway I hope you like it.

Supplies: Bravo Burgundy, always artichoke, whisper white cardstock, gold cording, gold ink, baroque motifs stamp set, Holidays & Wishes stamp set, always artichoke classic ink, purely pomegranate classic ink

Have a great day and happy stampin!

The Snowflake Spot - Soft Sky

I know that the lighting on this card is really off, but I promise that I did it on purpose. I wanted to show the glitter on the card and it's really hard to capture glitter on a camera. This seemed to be the best way to do it. So I have to say that I really like this card a lot and this photo really doesn't do it any justice. This card is one of the cards that we will be doing on Friday September 21st at our Christmas card class. I do still have a few openings so if your interested in coming to the class feel free to call or e-mail me.
The card uses the new background stamp Tres Chic, which I have to say lends it's self to many different cards. It's basically just a bunch of different words all randomly placed on the stamp. But the words that are on it could be used for almost any occasion. I stamped the Tres Chic background onto very vanilla cardstock with soft sky classic ink. I also stamped the snowflake in the soft sky as well. I used layers of soft sky and night of navy cardstock and the new double stitched soft sky ribbon. On the snowflake I used the 2-way glue pen (one of my favorite ways to apply glitter) and dabbed it on some of the dots on the snowflake and then applied our dazzling diamond glitter. This is my absolute favorite glitter, it's so fine that it covers nicely and it sparkles so nicely, especially at night when the lights are dimmed. Last year I used the glitter on my Christmas ornaments and let me tell you with the lights from the tree you would have thought I had real diamonds all over my tree. OK well maybe I'm exaggerating a little bit, but you get my point. Anyway enough ranting, and back to the card. I also applied the dazzling diamond glitter all the way around the edge of the soft sky cardstock just to give it a little extra sparkle.
Supplies: Very vanilla, soft sky, night of navy cardstock
Soft sky ink, soft sky double stitched ribbon, 2-way glue pen, dazzling diamonds glitter, ticket corner punch, Tres Chic background stamp, The snowflake spot stamp set.
Have a great day and happy stampin!

garden silhouettes - black and white

So I've had this card in my head for a while. I love black and white together. I think that it can be so elegant. I don't emboss very often and I'm not really sure why, because I always love the effect that it gives me. Ok so I know why I don't emboss very often because it's just a whole extra set of supplies that I have to carry out to my dining room table. If I had my craft room set up so it was useable I would probably do it more often. I don't know if you can see it or not but I emobssed the swirls from baroque motifs in clear embossing powder on both layers of the black and it looks really cool in real life. I stamped the flower image on whisper white cardstock and then cut it out with my coluzzle cutting system. Scallops are so in so what I did was cut the next two sizes of circles with the coluzzle and then used my corner rounder punch to create the scallops. I also scallopes the straight white cardstock the same way. Then I used just a small piece of the grey taffeta ribbon and taped it down to the white scalloped circle and then used stampin dimensionals to pop the black circle up off of the white circle. I'm very pleased with this card, what would I do differently now that the card is done? I would have embossed the flower with black embossing powder to give it that nice shiny look and to go better with the card. I hope you enjoy!
Supplies: Whisper white cardstock, basic black cardstock, garden silhouettes hostess set, baroque motifs stamp set, coluzzle cutting system, basic black ink, versamark, clear embossing powder, heat gun, grey taffeta ribbon, corner rounder, stampin dimensionals.
Have a great day and happy stampin!

Reflections

Today I'm showing you a card that we will be making at Stamp Club next Monday.I'm showing them two really fun ways to use the Lovely as a Tree stamp set (one of my all time favorite sets). This card uses the Reflections technique. I needed a thank you note for an older gentleman who let's us stay on his property when we go camping and he lives on a lake so I thought that this card was appropriate for him seeing that you can see the reflection of the trees in the water.
This month is our last stamp club meeting until January and I have to say I'm sad. But if you are interested in seeing what stamp club is all about feel free to come to our last meeting September 10th 7:00-9:00p.m.

Supplies: various SU markers, whisper white cardstock, wax paper, brayer
